Cancer Awareness & Prevention Programs
The health department holds an annual breast cancer candlelight vigil in October “Light a Candle for a Cure” to honor and remember those who have been affected by breast cancer. We collaborate with Genesis HealthCare System in a Tri-County Breast Cancer Initiative to provide breast health education and screening services to women in Morgan, Muskingum and Perry Counties targeting women who don’t have funds to obtain annual mammography. We have received several Community Investment Grants through the American Cancer Society to provide community programs to increase knowledge and awareness about the relationship between modifiable lifestyle choices and early detection to prevent cancer.
