Hello Perry Health community!

We are thrilled to share some fantastic news with you. Upcoming changes to Medicare reimbursement mean that many individuals who were previously ineligible for Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) will soon have the opportunity to access this beneficial technology. If you are an insulin-treated patient, you may be eligible for reimbursement under the new criteria, making it easier and more affordable for you to take advantage of CGM technology without having to make in-person visits.

Bringing CGMs to Perry Health

At Perry Health, we are working diligently to support the integration of Continuous Glucose Monitors into our services and have plans to support both Dexcom and Freestyle Libre sensors within the next couple of months. We’re aiming to make it available sometime before the end of June and for those already on a CGM, we'll likely be able to support connecting your device sometime in May. We understand that transitioning from a traditional Blood Glucose Monitor (BGM) to a CGM might be overwhelming for some patients. That's why we will provide comprehensive support and training to ensure a smooth transition, as well as assist you in utilizing your new CGM within the Perry Health program if that is what you choose.

Support for Non-Insulin Treated Patients

We believe in the potential of CGMs to benefit a wide range of patients, including those not currently on insulin treatments. While Medicare's new reimbursement policy specifically targets insulin-treated patients, or certain non-insulin-using individuals who have a history of what has been classified as “problematic hypoglycemia," we are happy to support non-insulin treated patients who wish to transition to a CGM. We can facilitate the prescription, but please be aware that there may be higher out-of-pocket costs. These will vary by insurance and can typically be from $50 to $150 per month depending on your coverage. If you are asked to pay more than $75, both Dexcom and Freestyle typically have some sort of financial assistance program you can apply for.
